Tasting GREAT coffee with our exporter

Cupping coffee with our exporter Mahabub

Cupping coffee with our exporter Mahabub

We arrived in Addis Ababa last night. Today we met with our Ethiopian coffee exporter, Mahabub, before flying east tomorrow morning to Harrar and our villages there.

It was a perfect use of our day.

Mahabub is the 3rd generation owner of the largest coffee exporter in Ethiopia — Adulina Coffee Exporter. He is warm, bright and welcoming, and we learned that he graduated from college in Atlanta, GA.

We all met in Mahabub’s office, and he treated us to a fantastic cup of Harrar coffee as we got to know one another and discussed the coffee business in Ethiopia.

Then… we went to their “cupping room” (a very deliberate tasting method) and cupped several of his finest coffees from Harrar, Yirgacheffe and Sidamo. One particular coffee raised all of our eyebrows… watch PangeoCoffee.com for it.. coming soon!

We’re grateful to Mahabub, and are delighted to continue our relationship!

Above, left to right… Jeff Power (Pangeo Coffee founder and CEO), Mahabub, Kat Cole (president of Cinnabon), Mahabub’s cupping director, Wally Doolin (global restauranteur and business intelligence executive), and Amanda Hite (founder of Be The Change Revolutions, and global speaker on social good for brands).
